The National Public Health Agency received a consignment of 32,760 Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine doses. This is a new shipment of the 700,830 doses purchased by the Ministry of Health through the agency of the Office for the Management of Foreign Assistance Programs. The doses will be distributed proportionally to all the vaccination units in the Republic of Moldova, IPN reports.
According to the Ministry of Health, the purchase was made as part of the Health Component of the COVID-19 Emergency Response and Support for Micro, Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises Program, in accordance with a loan agreement between the Republic of Moldova and the Council of Europe Development Bank that was signed on July 29, 2020.
The current lot will bring the number of Pfizer vaccine doses received by Moldova to 913,550. About 919,000 Moldovans completed a two-dose COVID-19 vaccination series in the country so far.
The Ministry of Health for November 23 reported 544 new COVID-19 cases, by 111 fewer than on November 22. It also reported 46 deaths from COVID-19, by 11 more than a day earlier. Of the 1,534 persons confirmed with COVID-19 who are now in hospitals, 130 are in a very serious condition and 15 of them were put on a ventilator.
