Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița, who is in Brussels on a working visit, said the Republic of Moldova is determined to ensure ambitious progress in doing reforming in the economy, which will contribute to developing businesses, to creating new jobs and will generate more incomes to the budget. The statement was made in a meeting with the Vice-President of the European Commission Valdis Dombrovskis, EU Commissioner for Trade, which was held on the sidelines of the meeting of the EU–Moldova Association Council, IPN reports.
“We thank you for increasing the (export) quotas on seven Moldovan agrifood products last summer. We aim to finalize the approximation of the EU legislation and to launch negotiations so as to start to export products of animal origin to the EU as swiftly as possible,” stated the Moldovan official. According to her, the institutions of the Republic of Moldova are ready to do irreversible reforms in the economy.
Natalia Gavrilița asked to launch the economic and financial dialogue with the EU, the accession to the Agreement on Conformity Assessment and Acceptance of Industrial Products (ACAA). In this connection, there were assessed the macro-economic developments in Moldova and the EU and the actions taken to improve the economic situation.
While in Brussels, Premier Gavrilița met with EU Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson. She told the European official that the situation in the energy sector in Moldova could be stabilized with the assistance of the EU and other foreign partners, with the Energy Community ascertaining that Moldova made the biggest progress in this sector among the EU candidate states last year.
In particular, Natalia Gavrilița referred to the identification of financial instruments, including grants, for making headway in a number of projects that stagnated for years, such as the building of the Bălți-Suceava high voltage power line, increasing of the quantity of renewable energy produced in the country and implementation of a broad project to improve energy efficiency in public buildings and apartment buildings.
