Two deans of the State University of Comrat have been detained in a corruption case, and the rector of the institution is being investigated while free. According to the National Anti-Corruption Center, they are suspected of having received money from students for passing exams and obtaining grades without attending classes and without undergoing academic evaluations, reports IPN.

According to the CNA, several episodes of corruption have been documented, including cases involving foreign citizens who allegedly benefited from undue advantages in the study process. Also, law enforcement is verifying information regarding the preparation and sale of thesis papers for a fee, the price of a paper being estimated at around 10 thousand lei.

CNA officers conducted searches at the State University of Comrat, in the cars and homes of the targeted individuals. As a result of the criminal investigations, the deans of the Law and Economics Faculties were detained for 72 hours.

The criminal investigation continues to establish all circumstances, identify all involved parties, and gather the necessary evidence.
