The searches announced this morning ended with the finding of over US$11,000 and €400 that was to be used to organize public disorder, according to the police. There were also found cartridges, a substance smelling like marijuana, drafts and communication and information storage devices. Men aged between 23 and 50, who were earlier tried for swindle, trafficking in drugs and thefts, are investigated in this case, IPN reports.
According to the General Police Inspectorate, among the suspects whose domiciles were searched are the persons who recently returned to Moldova from Turkey, where they took part in training on how to cause public disorder and to put up resistance to the police, how to use pyrotechnics and weapons during the protests that are to be staged. The searches also covered the persons who used force against the police and who blocked the Cricova-Chisinau road during the February 28 protest.
The causing of public disorder by organizing or leading such disorder accompanied by the use of violence against persons, destruction of property, arsons and use of firearms and other devices used as weapons and putting up of violent or armed resistance to the representatives of the authorities carries a penalty of four to eight years.
