Arina Spătaru, once an MP representing the Dignity and Truth Party (DA), has announced she is returning to politics at the helm of a new political party. “Moldova has lately seen social, economic and moral degradation under the current government (…) We urgently need a fresh political force to offer an authentic European path to the people of Moldova”, said Spătaru during a press conference in her native city of Bălți, which she is now leaving for Chisinau. “I understand very well, just like it took courage to say that the Plahotniuc regime was bad and corrupt, so it takes courage to say today that the current PAS government is incompetent, arrogant and most likely corrupt. It’s the first sign of normality and liberation when you can firmly call a spade a spade”, declared Spătaru. In a press release, the returning politician wrote: “After playing an important role in the political movement that led to the collapse of the Plahotniuc regime, Arina Spătaru withdrew from the political landscape and returned to her roots in Spătaru, dedicating herself to philanthropic initiatives and supporting local entrepreneurship. However, the current challenges facing the country have prompted her to act and reenter politics”.
