Farmers from Falesti are protesting with agricultural machinery and equipment

AnnouncementTop News

Farmers from the Falesti district will come out in protest on Friday with their machinery and agricultural equipment, to draw attention to the difficulties faced by micro, small and medium-sized farmers. The initiative was confirmed by the executive director of the “Farmers’ Force” Association, Alexandru Slusari, who told IPN that the decision was made in the context of a lack of effective dialogue with the authorities regarding the farmers’ demands.

The action is scheduled for June 12, between 09:00 AM and 02:00 PM, on the national road Sculeni-Falesti, at the entrance to the city of Falesti. According to the organizers, the agricultural machinery will be stationed on the side of the road, without blocking traffic. Farmers are requesting the introduction of direct payments per hectare for cereal and oilseed crops, the maintenance of tax benefits for farmers, and the full reimbursement of the excise duty on diesel used in agriculture.

“We are tired of promises and sterile discussions. If it was said yes, let’s see actions in realizing our demands. But like this, discussions, seemingly yes, seemingly no, then nothing happens. The farmers are tired”, Alexandru Slusari declared for IPN.

The executive director of the “Farmers’ Force” Association has stated that farmers have decided to resort to protest after they have no longer had discussions with the Minister of Agriculture, Ludmila Catlabuga. According to him, the authorities’ response to the farmers’ requests was perceived as hesitant, and the lack of clear commitments regarding the resolution of claims has amplified the dissatisfaction in the sector.

At the same time, Alexandru Slusari argues that the protest could be cancelled if by Friday there are concrete signals regarding the resumption of dialogue and the assumption of clear measures on the part of the authorities. He added that he does not rule out the possibility of similar initiatives appearing in other regions of the country, if the problems signaled by farmers remain unresolved.
