The Consolidated IFAD Program Implementation Unit (CPIU IFAD) provides grants of up to US$500,000 for the development of irrigation systems in rural areas of the Republic of Moldova, IPN reports.
CPIU IFAD is a unit created by the Government of the Republic of Moldova for the implementation of programs of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).
Grants are available to local public authorities, in association with small farmers’ interest groups, or Water Users Associations, in cooperation with the National Land Improvement Agency, local agricultural enterprises.
Funds are offered for small-scale irrigation systems connected to existing Central Irrigation Systems, as well as for small-scale irrigation systems using local water sources, including stations pumping water from natural reservoirs (rivers, lakes).
UCIP IFAD provides free technical assistance for the preparation of the financing file.
It is projected to finance about 80 small-scale irrigation systems with a minimum of five beneficiaries each, supporting 400 beneficiaries being the ultimate goal.
