President Maia Sandu postponed the meeting with political parties scheduled for Thursday, November 14. The meeting is to take place on Monday, November 18, the same day that the prime minister promised to announce Cabinet reshuffles. The announcement was made by the head of the President’s staff Adrian Baluțel, IPN reports.
On Monday, after the meeting of the Supreme Security Council, President Sandu announced consultations with representatives of parties for Thursday in order to discuss the actions that need to be taken in the fight against political corruption.
According to Maia Sandu, a number of the candidates and parties were affected by vote buying in the recent presidential election.
“We will discuss how we can, as quickly as possible, penalize and root out the phenomena of political corruption and vote buying,” the head of state said on Monday, after the SSC’s meeting. Maia Sandu proposed that within ten days all the plans should be discussed, agreed and a consensus on the necessary actions should be reached, including at national level.
