Moldova has made remarkable progress in its European journey and is eager to open the negotiation chapters as soon as possible. The government aims to advance decisively, so that the accession treaty can be signed by 2028.
The objectives were reaffirmed by Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu during meetings with the European Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos, and the President of the European Council, Antonio Costa, on the sidelines of the Forum on the Expansion of the European Union, held in Brussels, on November 18, reports IPN.

In the discussion with Commissioner Marta Kos, the executive chief stated that the Republic of Moldova “demonstrates day by day that it can implement the necessary reforms to become a European state.”
Marta Kos confirmed that the Republic of Moldova has recorded “the greatest annual progress among all candidate states”, highlighting the firm direction in which Chisinau is advancing.

At the meeting with the President of the European Council, Antonio Costa, Prime Minister Munteanu highlighted the major progress recently achieved with the support of the EU. Integration into the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA) has allowed for the reduction of transfer costs, and from January 1st, Moldovans will have “Roaming like at home” throughout the entire European Union.
“Moldova has demonstrated, through concrete actions, that it is prepared to fulfill all commitments to become a member of the European Union and a contributor to European security and economy,” the Prime Minister noted.
The Forum on the Expansion of the European Union is a recently launched initiative by the European Commission, intended to transform the expansion process from a technical issue into a political, social, and generational project of the entire European society.
The event emphasized that expansion is gaining a new momentum, unfolding at a faster pace than in the last 15 years. The European Commission’s strategic vision for the period 2024-2029 focuses on the transition from ambition to action, maintaining a credible and merit-based approach.
