The launch of the “e-Bilet” system in road transportation in the Republic of Moldova, initially scheduled for the end of January, has been postponed until the end of December this year, radiomoldova.md reports, cited by IPN. Ion Bocancea, deputy director of the National Auto Transport Agency (ANTA), explained during a program on Radio Moldova that the decision was taken to allow proper testing of the system before its official implementation.
“The system is at the stage of endorsement of the government decision for operation. The money is expected from the state budget. The system is planned in stages for three years. The aim is to tax all tickets and the contribution to the state,” explained Ion Bocancea.
The “e-Bilet” system will allow tickets to be bought online, a change from the current practice where tickets are physically purchased at ticket counters in train stations. The implementation of the system is intended to benefit both passengers and transport operators by increasing the efficiency and convenience of payments, as well as optimizing the management of transport routes.
According to Ion Bocancea, on the carriers’ side, the National Agency for Auto Transport provides an online platform, mobile application, which has personal cabinet with access to all the information of the transport operator, in real time can see where the buses are, how many tickets are sold in a day or a month. The fiscal voucher is the equivalent of the ticket, which will be issued on the bus, in paper format, as soon as it is purchased.
In this context, Ion Bocancea said that ANTA intends to use the data generated by the system to develop new transport programs and improve the existing network in areas where there are difficulties or lack of access to public transport.
At the same time, the deputy head of the National Motor Transport Agency gave assurances that the implementation of the “e-Bilet” system will not influence the price of travel tickets.
