Sweden will provide Moldova with a grant of €530,000 for solid waste management. An agreement in this regard was signed by the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Moldova and the Development Finance Institution of the Kingdom of Sweden, IPN reports.
The partnership comes to support consultancy services for carrying out feasibility studies, especially for waste management planning in some of the Waste Management Regions, which include the districts of Leova, Cimișlia, Basarabeasca, Căușeni and Ștefan-Vodă.
“The signing of this agreement is an important step towards modernizing the waste management system of the Republic of Moldova. We managed to identify the necessary financial resources to complete the feasibility studies in all the Waste Management Regions of the country, which will allow us to advance to the next stage of the Solid Waste Project in the Republic of Moldova,” said Minister of Environment Sergiu Lazarencu.
Also, the Moldovan-Swedish project is to simplify waste management processes, improve the necessary infrastructure and increase the population’s awareness of the importance of recycling and properly managing waste.
