US President Donald Trump calls for a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin after direct peace talks between the Russian Federation and Ukraine ended without any progress. The announcement was made by the White House leader in an interview with Fox News.

In the interview, Trump said that “meeting with Putin is necessary to end the longest conflict in Europe since World War II,” referring to Russia’s war of aggression in Ukraine.

He also said he was optimistic about engagement with the Russian president, although he was prepared to put pressure on Russia if necessary.

The peace talks between the Russian Federation and Ukraine in Istanbul lasted around 90 minutes and ended without any sign of progress, except for an agreement on an exchange of prisoners.
