The United Sates Department of the Treasury has announced sanctions against two Moldovan oligarchs, Vladimir Plahotniuc and Ilan Shor, and against a number of entities and persons associated with these. The announcement was made by the U.S. Ambassador to Moldova Kent D. Logsdon. According to the diplomat, the sanctions were imposed for systemic corruption and interference in elections, supported by the Kremlin, IPN reports.
