The Parliament Building is hosting an exhibition of archive photos and documents that was mounted in connection with the 120th anniversary of the Chisinau Jewish pogrom of April 6-8, 1903, IPN reports.
The pictures show shocking scenes of the pogrom: adults and children killed with brutality, funeral ceremonies, injured persons while in the hospital, devastated Jewish homes, destroyed houses, empty streets and shops, and profaned Hebraic writings.
The archive documents dating from 1903-1907 present different approaches made by the then authorities and make reference to the happenings, including minutes of the meeting of the committee for helping the affected persons, Chisinau court trials featuring participants in those evens, the report of the Chisinau gendarmerie chief, etc.
The exhibits belong to the National Archives Agency. The exhibition can be visited in the Parliament Building throughout April.
Reportedly, 49 Jews were killed during the Chisinau pogrom, with another over 600 being injured.
