A significant increase in bilateral roaming services between the Republic of Moldova and Romania was witnessed over the past year. According to a report, 6 million days of active roaming were recorded, an increase of 33% compared to the previous year, IPN reports.
The report was compiled by the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology of Moldova and the National Authority for Management and Regulation in Communications of Romania.
Roaming internet consumption increased massively – by 155% for users in the Republic of Moldova and by 97% for those in Romania.
Two-way roaming telephony traffic saw double-digit increases: by 24% more minutes of calls made or received by Romanian users roaming in the Republic of Moldova. In the case of users from the Republic of Moldova roaming in Romania, the increase was at least threefold: by 76% for incoming calls and by 85% for outgoing calls.
For services consumed on a roaming day in Romania, the user in the Republic of Moldova paid an average of €0.18, 22% less than in 2022. In turn, for services consumed on a roaming day in the Republic of Moldova, the user in Romania paid an average of €1.22, the same price as in 2022.
The agreement on the reduction of charges for the provision of international roaming services and international calls between the Government of Romania and the Government of the Republic of Moldova was signed on February 11, 2022.
