Moldova distinguished itself at the European Team Athletics Championship, in the third division, held in the city of Maribor, Slovenia. Over the course of the two-day competition, the athletes won nine medals: three gold, two silver, and four bronze, in a contest that brought together delegations from several European countries, reports IPN.
At the center of the performance was Alexandra Emilianov, who won the gold medal in discus throw, with a distance of 61.84 meters, and the silver in shot put, with 15.80 meters. Two other gold medals were won by Andreea Stavila, in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, and by Andrian Mardare in the javelin throw. The list of medalists was completed by Serghei Marghiev with a silver medal in hammer throw.
Ivan Galusco also climbed the podium, earning the bronze in the 400-meter race with a time of 47 seconds, along with Maxim Raileanu, who was awarded the bronze in the 5,000-meter race, and Ecaterina Cernat, who took third place in the women’s event.
