Chisinau’s customs terminals will be moved outside the city. Preparatory work for their relocation will begin by the end of the year, with construction to start next year. The intentions were communicated by the director of the Customs Service, Alexandru Iacub, during a meeting with representatives of the Association of International Car Carriers of Moldova, IPN reports.
The project is at the final stage of finalizing the feasibility study and aims to create a modern logistics complex, adapted to today’s freight transport requirements.
The new center will include truck ramps, weighing systems, scanners, storage space, including refrigerated storage, as well as energy autonomy. All these facilities will be state-run.
The relocation of the terminals is part of a wider plan to modernize customs administration and support the business environment with efficient logistics solutions.
According to the head of the customs service, the measure aims to reduce truck traffic in the city and provide more convenient access for businesses.
