Moldovan judoka Denis Vieru has won a bronze medal at the 2022 Judo World Masters held in Jerusalem. This is his first medal won at such a competition, IPN reports.
He was beaten only by the future winner of the 66 kg weight class, Baruch Shmailov of Israel. Denis Vieru defeated Italy’s Matteo Piras, France’s Walide Khyar and Baskhuu Yondonperenlei of Mongolia.
This year, Denis Vieru has won by a bronze at the World Judo Championships and the European Judo Championships. Recently, he was named the best athlete of the year by the Sports Press Association of Moldova.
