The value of table grape exports from Moldova to EU countries reached 627 million lei in the first 10 months of the year, almost twice as much as in the same period last year. Romania and Poland top the list of Moldovan grape imports. The EU dominates the market, and new destinations include countries in the Middle East and Central Asia, government spokesman Daniel Voda told a press conference, IPN reports.
According to Daniel Voda, the share of exports to the EU has increased from 36% in 2021 to 74% in 2024, and for every four kilograms of Moldovan grapes exported, three go to the European market.
The European Union continues to be Moldova’s main trading partner, supporting the country’s economic growth. Two out of three “Made in Moldova” products end up on the single European market, the government spokesman noted.
In 2023, Moldovan grapes will reach 33 countries, compared to 23 countries in 2022. Among the new markets are Sweden, Slovenia, Slovakia, Italy, Italy, Lithuania, Albania, Serbia, the United Arab Emirates, China (Hong Kong) and Kyrgyzstan. “This progress reflects the quality of Moldovan grapes and the extraordinary work of our farmers, supported by the Government to access new and competitive markets,” said Daniel Voda.
