The virtual library intended for middle school students in Romania – EduLib, which offers access to digital lessons and educational resources, will also be available for students and teachers in the Republic of Moldova, starting with the new school year. The technical aspects of the project were discussed on Saturday, during the visit to Chisinau of the Romanian Education Minister, Daniel David, according to IPN.
The Romanian official mentioned, in a press conference held together with his Moldovan counterpart, Dan Perciun, that it is “a very important thing that can help with the development of education”.
For his part, Dan Perciun appreciated the availability of these resources. The minister stressed that the investments needed to create them are significant and that the possibility of using those already available in Romania “will help us a lot”.
When asked to what extent teachers in the Republic of Moldova are prepared to use this online library, Dan Perciun stated that the COVID-19 pandemic has meant an accelerated experience of learning how to use digital resources. Targeted training programs have also been implemented for all teachers in the country in the field of digital literacy.
The Minister also communicated that, in the next year and a half, over 10 thousand teachers are expected to be trained based on a European digital literacy curriculum. “And I believe this will also ensure digital skills to make use of the resources provided by the Romanian state”, emphasized Dan Perciun.
EduLib Platform includes over 3600 digital lessons, verified and approved by specialists from the Ministry of Education in Romania, covering 11 disciplines. Access to the platform is granted through accounts distributed to students. EduLib allows integration with other educational platforms and offers an intelligent learning assistant, which can answer students’ questions in a natural language.
