Moldovan fruit producers could export freely to the European market. To this end, the authorities are negotiating for the permanent liberalization of trade with the EU, initiating talks to increase import quotas under the free trade agreement, IPN reports.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economic Development Dumitru Alaiba and Agriculture Minister Ludmila Catlabuga discussed the challenges and advantages of trade with the EU with representatives of the agro-food industry.
Exporters of fruit, plums, apples and grapes emphasized that a definitive removal of trade restrictions will allow to increase production and attract investment.
“To export more, we need to produce more. That is why we are focusing on attracting investments and increasing productivity,” Dumitru Alaiba said.
The official noted that the Organization for Entrepreneurship Development supports local producers through grants and internationalization, including through the 373 program. Dumitru Alaiba also said that the state aid mechanism encourages investment in industry, while favorable tax policies support reinvestment of profits.
