Judo athlete Denis Vieru won two victories in the 66 kg weight category at the European Championships in Podgorica and placed 7th. The Moldovan athlete beat Viljar Lipard from Estonia and Miguel Gago from Portugal. However, he was injured and lost the duel with Italian Matteo Piras, IPN reports.
A press release from the National Olympic Sports Committee (CNOS) shows that the bronze medalist from the Paris Olympics was unable to get past Adrian Chinarro of Spain in the requalification. Daikii Bouba of France became European champion in the 66kg weight class.
The European Judo Championships take place this year in Podgorica from April 23-27.
