The book “Cinematographic Stories” by Valeriu Jereghi will be launched on Monday, June 9th, at the reading room of the National Library of the Republic of Moldova. The work includes 25 stories inspired by reality, as reported by IPN.
According to the director, each short story represents a snapshot of the time, reflecting events and emotions belonging to a generation: “In these ‘Cinematic Short Stories’, I have portrayed the historical truth, the atmosphere, and the faces of those who were part of my world.”
The evening program includes a screening of a cinematic collage featuring excerpts from the author’s films, readings from the short stories “The Gloves”, “The Incantation” and “Achim – Codename”, and an artistic recital presented by the youth from the School of Arts from Straseni. Access to the launch event is free, but subject to availability of seats.
The book “Cinematographic Short Stories” was published by Prut Publishing House, with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Moldova.
Valeriu Jereghi is a director, screenwriter and film producer, born October 19, 1948. He is known for his valuable contributions to Moldovan and Soviet cinematography, working in the fields of art and documentary films. He graduated from the All-Union Film Institute (VGIK) in Moscow.
It is known for the films “Arrivederci” (2008), awarded at several international festivals, and “The Wooden Cannon” (1986).
