President Maia Sandu will be making an official visit to Rome during June 18-20, on the invitation of her Italian counterpart, IPN reports, quoting the presidential press service.
While in Rome, President Sandu will meet with the President of Italy Sergio Mattarella. The officials will discuss aspects of cooperation in a number of areas, the commercial relations and the situation of the Moldovan diaspora in Italy. Special attention will be devoted to the bilateral legal framework, primarily the agreement between the Republic of Moldova and the Italian Republic on the recognition of diplomas and the social security agreement.
The agenda includes meetings with the President of the Senate Maria Casselati, President of the Chamber of Deputies Roberto Fico, President of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Chamber of Deputies Pierro Fassino, members of the Moldova –Italy friendship group of the Senate, and mayor of Rome Virginia Raggi.
Maia Sandu plans to meet with representatives of the diaspora given that Italy is the country with the largest community of Moldovans in Europe.
