According to the official, the new plants will be based on flexible technology – internal-combustion engines – and will have the capacity of 55 MW and 43 Gcalh. They will replace the former thermoelectric plant CET-1, which was put into operation in 1951.
The new plants will also have photovoltaic installations with the capacity of 100 kW and will this way contribute to the utilization of renewable energy sources. They will be built with financial support from the World Bank Moldova. The goal is to ensure Moldova’s energy independence.
The procedures for acquiring services to design, deliver, install and put the plants into operation were launched by the Consolidated Unit for the Implementation and Monitoring of Projects in the Field of Energy.
