The National Army this week will receive a batch of military equipment from the United States of America. The donation includes 20 HMMWV vehicles that will be used by the National Army’s servicemen in national and international training and exercises. The Ministry of Defense said that, due to the heatwave, the vehicles will be transported at night, when the temperatures are lower and the traffic is clearer, IPN reports.
The donation is made to help achieve the objective of modernizing the capabilities of the National Army, on the basis of the Memorandum “On Military Cooperation between the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Moldova and the Department of Defense of the United States of America”, signed on December 4, 1995.
In 2014, the National Army received the first 43 HMMWV vehicles from the U.S. Government.
