Students speaking other languages than Romanian, who studied in languages of national minorities, take the first Baccalaureate exam on Tuesday, June 4, in Romanian language and literature, IPN reports.
As many as 3,147 candidates, including 1,655 from Chisinau, were registered to sit the exam. Six students received grade 10 automatically in this test, based on the places won at the National Olympiad in Romanian Language and Literature for students speaking other languages than Romanian.
On June 7, 15,351 students will take the exam in the language of study: 12,659 – the exam in the Romanian language and literature, and 2,692 – the exam in the Russian language and literature.
The foreign language test will be held on June 11 and will involve 16,282 candidates. Most of them, 12,613, will write the English test.
The fourth exam, on June 14, will involve 17,479 candidates. Of them, 8,068 candidates who studied exact sciences will take the exam in mathematics, 8,674 candidates who studied humanities will take the exam in the Romanian and universal history, while 254 students of sports schools and 483 students of arts schools will sit the tests corresponding to their specialties.
The exam in the discipline of one’s choice will be sat on June 18 by 15,692 candidates. Most of them, 9,440 candidates, chose the geography.
The Baccalaureate session will end on June 21 with the exam in the mother tongue, for 523 candidates. A number of 230 candidates will take the test in the Bulgarian language and literature, 240 candidates – in the Gagauz language and literature, and 53 candidates – in the Ukrainian language and literature.
Minister of Education and Research Dan Perciun congratulated all the candidates who reached this stage, wishing them success in the exams. “You are the generation that will ensure the Republic of Moldova’s prosperity in the EU, the generation that will face global warming and will integrate artificial intelligence into daily life,” stated Dan Perciun.
The General Division of Education, Youth and Sports of the Chisinau City Hall also came with a congratulatory message and wished the students good luck and good results in exams. “We trust that we have the best students and that they will achieve the best results,” said officials of the Division.
The 2024 Baccalaureate session is held during June 4-21 in 93 Baccalaureate centers.
