Update: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemns the violation of the airspace of the Republic of Moldova and the explosion in the Talmaza area, Stefan Voda district, which caused a forest fire in the area. According to the institution, this incident constitutes a serious violation of the sovereignty of the Republic of Moldova and poses a direct risk to the security of our citizens. Such incidents are unacceptable.
Original news: A flying apparatus is said to have crashed and exploded this evening in the outskirts of Talmaza, in the Stefan Voda district. According to preliminary information from the Police, the impact with the ground caused an explosion and set nearby vegetation on fire. No casualties have been reported, IPN reports.
The explosion occurred approximately three kilometers away from the locality. The area was secured, and the authorized institutions intervened for the extinguishment of the fire and the determination of the circumstances.
The air space surveillance systems of the National Army detected, at 05:37 PM, the intrusion into the air space of the Republic of Moldova of an aerial object, in the direction of Cuciurgan–Tiraspol. Immediate measures were taken to close the air space in the Central sector, for a duration of 15 minutes.
According to preliminary data, the object disappeared from the monitoring systems in the region of the Talmaza locality, Stefan Voda district.
The specialists of the Technical-Explosive Section of the Police are heading to the scene to examine the device and definitively establish its origin. The Police urge citizens to avoid the area and not to touch any potential components of the flying device found at the scene.
