Current Parliament includes 14 young people

The current legislative body consists of 14 people who are younger than 35. Ten of these are members of the group of the Party of Action and Solidarity, two are members of the group of the Bloc of Communists and Socialists and two are members of the group of Shor Party. The data were presented on the occasion of International Youth Day that is celebrated today, August 12, IPN reports.

Four of the 14 MPs are women. These are Ana Kalinich, Diana Caraman, Marcela Nistor and Marina Tauber.

The youngest MP is Eugeniu Sinkevich, who is 23. He studies political science at the Paris University “Sciences Po”. He is the second youngest MP in the history of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova after MP Mihail Poleanski, who in 2001 entered the legislative body at the age of 21.

The average age of the MPs of the eleventh legislature was 47 when Parliament was formed.

August 12 was first designated International Youth Day by the UN General Assembly in 1999, and serves as an annual celebration of the role of young women and men as essential partners in change, and an opportunity to raise awareness of challenges and problems facing the world’s youth.
