In March, the Moldovan leu appreciated by 0.8% on average against the U.S. dollar, up to 17.7064 USD/MDL, IPN reports.
According to the National Bank of Moldova, the coverage of net demand for foreign currency from economic agents through the net supply of foreign currency from individuals was 86.6%, compared to 90.5% in February 2024.
Compared to the previous month, the net supply of foreign currency from individuals increased by US$7.6 million (+4.0%), while the net demand for foreign currency from economic agents rose by US$18.3 million (+8.6%).
The NBM didn’t intervene on the local foreign exchange market in March.
