Politically, the creation of the opposition bloc “Victory” in Moscow represents high treason, said Lilian Carp, chairman of the Parliament’s commission on national security, defense and public order. According to the PAS MP, the representatives of the Shor group obviously act in the interests of the Russian Federation, and the Prosecutor’s Office is to decide whether these actions fall under Article 337 of the Criminal Code: treason, IPN reports.
On April 21, in Moscow, all the satellite parties of the former Shor Party signed the document establishing the political bloc “Victory”. The political entity is led by the fugitive Ilan Shor, who was definitively convicted in the Republic of Moldova. PAS MP Lilian Carp said that the actions taken by the Shor group to create a political entity in an aggressor state represent high treason.
“Politically, these actions can be described as treason. It is direct interference of the Russian Federation, through persons from the Shor criminal group, but also through personalities from the Russian Estrada, who obviously participate in these actions to influence the political visions in the Republic of Moldova. All these can be considered direct interference in politics in the Republic of Moldova. All the small parties that Shor created in recent years are now united in an electoral bloc. This happens in a very important election year because it is easier for them to transmit messages from a single center, not to distribute messages through separate parties,” Lilian Carp stated in the talk show “Resumé” on RliveTV channel.
The MP noted that the Prosecutor’s Office is going to classify the actions of the Shor group from legal viewpoint. Recently, interim prosecutor general Ion Munteanu announced that law enforcement officials are examining the creation of the political bloc “Victory” through the angle of the Criminal Code article regarding high treason.
“The prosecutor general said he would analyze the component of treason with regard to the people who took this action. I can only describe this action in political terms and this is treason. Shor directly undertakes actions to destabilize the Republic of Moldova in the interests of the Russian Federation,” said the chairman of the parliamentary commission on national security, defense and public order.
According to the Criminal Code, treason is an act intentionally committed by a citizen of the Republic of Moldova to the detriment of the sovereignty, territorial integrity or security of the state by siding with the enemy, espionage or disclosure of the state secret. This offense is punishable by 12 to 20 years in prison.
