On Tuesday, the Republic of Moldova will have a shortage of electricity of approximately 4 070 MWh, said Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Spînu, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development. He stated that the contract for the supply of electricity with MGRES (Kuchurgan power plant) wasn’t signed, IPN reports.
The official noted that SA Energocom extended the contract for the supply of electrical energy with OMV Petrom for 50 MWh for November and the contract with Nuclearelectrica for 35 MWh for November.
For Tuesday, 5 530 MWh of power was bought from OPCOM (Romanian electricity market operator) but the country will have a shortage of electrical energy outside contracts of about 4 070 MWh.
“The reduction of electricity consumption is extremely important. I ask you to continue the effort to save nationwide. We have many good examples, but there is surely more place for responsibility,” stated Andrei Spînu.
As to natural gas, the minister said that in November Gazprom will supply only 5.7 million cubic meters of gas, which is 51% of the amounts stipulated in the contract. Of the 5.7 million cubic meters of gas, the right side of the Nistru will receive 3.4 million cubic meters of gas a day, while the left side – 2.3 million. This means the Transnistrian region will get by over 40% less gas than in October.
On Monday, Energocom purchased another 27 million cubic meters of gas from the market. The strategic gas supplies now total about 127 million cubic meters.
