The number of cases of pneumonia in Chisinau continues to increase. Last week, the figure was by 25% higher than a week before and over 63% of all the cases of pneumonia were in children, IPN reports.
In the ordinary meeting of officials of municipal services, Vladimir Bolocan, deputy head of the Medical and Social Assistance Division of the Chisinau Municipal Council, said the increase in the number of cases of pneumonia exerts pressure on the pediatric institutions in Chisinau. Even so, they cope with the situation yet.
The situation regarding scarlet fever has been monitored. In this connection, the official warned parents to pay attention to the related symptoms manifested in children and to seek medical assistance if such symptoms appear.
Vladimir Bolocan noted that a COVID-19 section with 50 beds was activated last week at the Institute of Phthisiopneumology. Of those beds, 23 beds are currently occupied. Six persons are in a serious condition and need oxygen.
He said the Division he leads aims to develop a local plan on vaccination against COVID-19 by January 31. Afterward, international organizations that finance vaccination campaigns at the central level will be requested to finance vaccination at the local level as well.
