The volume of natural gas consumed in May this year was 25.4 million cubic meters, which is by 7.68% more compared to the same period of 2023. At the same time, according to Moldovagaz, compared to April 2024, this indicator decreased by 4 million cubic meters or by 13.6%, IPN reports.
Household consumers until May 31 paid 97.5% of the amounts invoiced in 2024, which is by 0.9 percentage points more compared to the same period last year. In the case of non-household consumers (legal entities), the payments represented 97.8%, which is by 3 percentage points more than at the end of last May. Enterprises operating in the energy and heating sectors of the country paid 100% of their bills, which is 6.1 percentage points more compared to the corresponding period last year.
In the period, 481 consumption units were disconnected from the natural gas distribution network. The debts of their owners totaled about 3.6 million lei. The preventive payment measure was applied to 287 consumers as a consequence of the previous cessation of the natural gas supply for non-payment on time of the equivalent value of the consumed natural gas.
According to Moldovagaz, the payments for the supplied natural gas on May 31 constituted 98.5% or 5.723 billion lei, down 30% compared to the same period last year. This is due to the pronounced decrease in gas charges in the period.
