The Czech Republic offers one million euros for the modernization of social assistance in the Republic of Moldova. It is about support for the implementation of the RESTART reform, through the training of social workers, standardization of methodologies, equipping with IT equipment, and providing managerial support. Today in Chisinau, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, the Czech Development Agency, and the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs of the Czech Republic, reports IPN.

Financial assistance amounting to one million euros will be granted during the period 2025-2027. The project envisages the training of over 1,700 social workers and 160 coordinators, as well as equipping territorial social assistance structures with modern IT equipment. In addition, work methodologies will be standardized and managerial support will be provided to optimize activities.

“This project represents an essential step in our efforts to build a modern and equitable social protection system. We will learn from the Czech experience in managing European funds and implementing EU standards, which will accelerate our European journey,” stated the Minister of Labor and Social Protection, Alexei Buzu, during the signing ceremony.

The purpose of the project is to combat demographic issues, those of the elderly and vulnerable families. “In this project, the system (case management) will be implemented, which involves an individual approach for people with the same problem,” declared the Czech Deputy Prime Minister Marian Jurečka, Minister of Labor and Social Affairs.

Marian Jurečka also mentioned that the Restart project is not just about funding, but about solidarity and sharing experiences. According to him, the beneficiary should notice that they are receiving truly quality assistance.

The project will also support the transposition of the European social acquis and the understanding of the mechanisms of the European Social Fund Plus through experience exchanges with the Czech side, as well as the implementation of the European Child Guarantee in the Republic of Moldova.
