The Central Electoral Commission initiates the development of proposals to amend the Electoral Code and related legislation, to regulate the conduct of electoral campaigns online and to ensure their transparency. The initiative comes in the context of the need to adapt the regulatory framework to new technological realities and to strengthen guarantees regarding the integrity of electoral processes in the digital environment, IPN reports.
CEC specifies that the project also aims to utilize the conclusions formulated by the Constitutional Court on October 16, 2025, in the context of the decision of the same date confirming the results of the parliamentary elections of September 28, 2025, and validating the mandates of the elected deputies.
The Constitutional Court then highlighted the need to strengthen the electoral framework in relation to the risks generated by disinformation, foreign interference, and hybrid attacks in the digital environment. The Court also drew attention to the use of new technologies, including artificial intelligence, in propagating manipulative content and illegal political advertising.
Proposals and recommendations regarding the project can be submitted to the CEC until September 14, physically or in electronic format, at the address info@cec.md.
