The deadline for the privatization of housing, which expires on May 31, has been extended for another two years. The draft law was given a final reading by Parliament on Thursday. The authors argued that there are disputes that are to be examined by the court and there are many dwellings that need to be privatized, most of them being located in Chisinau, IPN reports.
The privatization deadline for housing has been extended for several times. The last time it was extended in 2021, until 2024. Based on the information collected from local public authorities, approximately 9,636 dwellings were privatized by 2020, out of which over 6,000 are situated in Chisinau. At that time, there remained 4,882 dwellings available for privatization on the territory of the Republic of Moldova, of which 1,013 in Chisinau.
The document enters into force on the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.
