The retirement age for women increases by half a year starting from July 1st. Thus, women will retire upon reaching the age of 61 and a half years. The full contribution period for women is equal to that of men and constitutes 34 years.

Contacted by IPN, the head of the General Directorate of Pensions and Allowances within the National House of Social Insurance, Viorica Tugulschii, stated that for individuals who do not have a full contribution period, an incomplete pension is calculated, the size of which is proportional to the number of years of contribution. Without a minimum contribution period of 15 years, the person cannot receive a pension, but has the right to a social allowance for the elderly, amounting to 50% of the minimum state-guaranteed pension.

The right to early retirement for a long career is granted to individuals who have completed a contributory period of five years for men and three years for women, longer than that stipulated by law. Men are entitled to early retirement for a long career if they have a full contribution period of 39 years, and women – if they have a full contribution period of 37 years.

From January 1, 2024, retirees who are working or have worked in the labor field after achieving or reassessing their right to an age limit pension, and from January 1, 2025, also retirees who are working or have worked in the labor field after achieving or reassessing their disability pension, can request a pension reassessment no more frequently than once every two years, provided that the calculated pension is higher than the pension currently being paid.

From April 1st, as a result of a 10% indexation, the minimum pension for people with a full contribution period is 3,055 lei. Moreover, from May 1st, people with a contribution period of at least 40 years, benefit from a minimum pension of 3,300 lei.
