All the information about public roads will be stored in an electronic register. The system will centralize all the relevant information about public roads in a single database. According to the authorities, this will allow quick and efficient access to updated information on the state of roads and traffic conditions. The Cabinet approved the establishment of the information system Register of Public Roads, IPN reports.
“We have a problem in terms of good records of road infrastructure. The information about roads is not complete and not digitized. In this regard, a bill is proposed for the digitization of the entire public road network in order to have quick and efficient access to all the data on public roads,” said Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development Andrei Spînu.
According to him, the creation of this register will allow to constantly monitor the condition of roads and ongoing works, ensuring accurate up-to-date information. “The register will enable us to plan and schedule maintenance and repair work efficiently, both in terms of time and resources, and, last but not least, to improve road safety. This tool will provide us with information about traffic conditions, restrictions and dangerous areas,” stated the minister.
In this connection, Prime Minister Dorin Recean said that the Government has been building European roads and over 700 kilometers of roads have been repaired, rehabilitated or built over the last two years alone. “Together with the implementation of this register, we should also have communication regarding the planning for the next three years of the roads to be repaired or restored so that the local public authorities also know what to expect,” noted the official.
