A paint storehouse situated on Calea Basarabiei St in Chisinau caught fire in the morning of April 21. The whole Chisinau garrison of the General inspectorate for Eminency Situations was dispatched to the scene. Eyewitnesses said a part of the storehouse’s walls collapsed. The fire was localized at about 9am.
Contacted by IPN for details, press officer of the Inspectorate Liliana Pușcașu said the call to the 112 Service was made at 7:19am and 15 available firefighting vehicles were on the scene immediately. The fire affected an area of 2,000-3,000 square meters. The type of paint is not known. There was a risk of explosion, but this was prevented.
The area was fenced and the people’s access to it is restricted. Now that the fire was localized, the flames do not spread and the danger for the buildings located nearby was excluded.
“According to the preliminary reports, there was no one inside the building. No victims were reported. The causes and circumstances will be determined after the operation is over,” stated Liliana Pușcașu.
