President Maia Sandu last year paid 19 trips abroad. The costs associated with the visits made to other countries in 2022 added up to over 514,000 lei, as against the sum of 1 million lei allocated for the purpose last year, IPN reports.
President Sandu gave speeches in the European Parliament and the General Assembly of the United Nations, in a number of international summits, conferences and public events on whose sidelines she also had bilateral meetings. The official also paid several bilateral visits on the invitation of her counterparts and other high-tanking officials of the host countries.
The sum allocated for 2023 is of 700,000 lei.
The presidential administration also presented the costs for the trips made abroad the previous years. In 2019, the costs totaled over 1.8 million lei, in 2020 – over 632,000 lei, while in 2021 – more than 534,000 lei.
