A man aged 27 from Chisinau was sentenced to two years in jail for telling lies and contributing to the artificial creation of evidence, IPN reports.
According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, the 27 year-old man was questioned as a victim and injured party in a criminal case. He was warned about the punishment for lying, but he said that he was kidnapped by individuals, was beaten and transported in the trunk of a car, being dispossessed of a cellphone and 2,500 lei. In two months, he changed his statements, saying that he wasn’t kidnapped and asking that the criminal case should be dropped.
He was given two years behind bars and is on remand detention now. The sentence is not yet final and can be challenged in the Chisinau Appeals Court within 15 days.
