About 29,000 ninth graders take math pretest

Approximately 29,000 students of the ninth grade on Thursday, February 27, will sit the national pretest in mathematics. This is one of the stages in preparing students for the national graduation exams, IPN reports.

Under the regulations, auxiliary materials such as textbooks, notes, computers, mobile phones or other electronic devices cannot be taken into the exam room. The students will only have a blue pen, a pencil, a ruler and eraser.

Students will be distributed in alphabetical order. In each room, there will be two supervisors – teachers teaching other subjects than mathematics. The testing time is 120 minutes. After they complete the tasks, the students will hand the tests over to the supervisors and sign the attendance form. The tests will be sealed and sent to the evaluation committee.

The test will be administered in each educational institution and evaluated at the district/municipal level. The results of the tests will be automatically centralized, and the analyzed data will allow the identification of students who need additional support.

As a result of the analysis, 6,000 students who face difficulties in mathematics will be selected. These students will have access to free classes. The training courses, with a duration of 30-40 hours, will take place in small groups, consisting of 3-4 students.
