An employee of a private security company has been sentenced to three years in prison after assaulting a man, causing him serious injuries. The sentence was handed down for inhumane and degrading treatment. The young man pleaded not guilty, reports IPN.
According to the General Prosecutor’s Office, the incident took place on June 4, 2022, in the Buiucani sector of the capital. The accused, a 23-year-old, was carrying out his official duties when he struck the victim with the hard part of his palm in the temple area, amid a conflict that had erupted between the two.
As a result of the blow, the man lost his balance, fell, and hit his head on the asphalt. The forensic medical examination determined that the victim suffered a cranio-cerebral trauma and fractures, injuries that were classified as serious bodily harm.
The injured party stated that before the incident, they were in an argument with other men and were addressing them with offensive words. The accused, who was driving through the area, allegedly believed the insults were directed at him and reportedly intervened violently.
In addition to the prison sentence, the convicted young man was deprived of the right to engage in activities in the field of public and private security for a period of seven years.
