The first bilateral Moldova-European Union Summit will take place today in Chisinau, with the President of the European Council, António Costa, and the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, expected at the State Residence, IPN reports.
The event is organized under the aegis of President Maia Sandu and, according to the presidential institution, reflects the firm commitment of the Chisinau authorities to Moldova’s accession to the European Union. The summit will be attended by the Speaker of the Parliament, Igor Grosu, and Prime Minister Dorin Recean.
“The discussions at the summit will focus on key issues for Moldova’s future and partnership with the European Union, including the EU accession process, European support in the context of the war in Ukraine, as well as the implementation of the Growth Plan for Moldova”, the Presidency said.
They will also discuss strengthening trade relations, security and defense cooperation, energy transition, digital transformation and facilitating people-to-people contacts.
The summit will start at 17:00 and end close to 20:00.
In the context of the event, between 08:00 and 22:00, access to certain public places in the capital will be temporarily limited. This concerns in particular the city center and the arteries connecting to Chisinau International Airport.
