The National Culture Forum brought together writers, actors, musicians, directors, choreographers and other artists at “Nicolae Sulac” National Palace in Chisinau on Friday evening. “Altogether, the work of all the artists who created here, in our country, is also our collective memory. All the performances staged, all the written prose and poetry, art exhibitions, cinema or our architectural heritage – all these have educated us, define our national values and shape our character,” President Maia Sandu said at the event, IPN reports.
Culture has multiple forms and touches each of us. “A photograph from a magazine, a song half-heard on the radio, or a movie watched for I don’t know how many times – all can, in different ways, cast a spell on each one. Culture is the one that raises us above everyday life. Art and culture are made where there are people with a soul, talented people and, especially you, those who work in villages, know this best. Even in difficult conditions, where the roof lets the rain through and every year a piece of the floor is repaired, culture always finds its way because it does not depend on the walls, but on the hearts of those who create it,” stated President Sandu.
According to the official, it is important that every person, no matter how far they live from the epicenters of cultural life, should have access to the cultural product. “Through culture we educate the new generations and thus the national identity is strengthened. This is why the reform of artistic education is more than necessary. In a small country, like ours, we must discover, cultivate and valorize new talents and minds that ensure continuity for our cultural heritage,” said the head of state.
According to the Ministry of Culture, the National Culture Forum is a platform for strengthening partnerships and identifying solutions aimed at supporting cultural diversity, protecting national heritage and improving access to culture for all citizens.
