The preliminary cost incurred by the state to maintain a Ukrainian refugee is US$25-30 a day if the direct and indirect costs arer take into acount, Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița told a news conference.
“It is now hard to estimate the costs for maintaining a refugee as we witnessed this extraordinary mobilization of civil society, volunteers, families that house refugees in their homes, business entities that made considerable donations during the first days. Also, the costs incurred at the local level haven’t been yet presented to the central authorities. Therefore, these estimates are preliminary,” stated Premier Gavrilița.
Mission chief of the IMF for Moldova Ruben Atoyan said that according to international experience, the cost for a refugee from Afghanistan is US$1,200 a year, IPN reports.
