Heavy vehicles to help disassemble silo at Giurgiulești Port

Heavy vehicles on MNonday will help disassemble the silo that caught fire on January 20 for firefighters to be able to continue the extinguishing operation at the Giurgiulești International Free Port, IPN reports.

A firefighting team worked there at night. According to the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, the operation to extinguish the fire and to ensure fire safety at the scene will continue. There are no risks to locals and to local infrastructure facilities.

The police and the prosecutor’s office became involved to examine the situation after several fires occurred at the Giurgiulești Port. Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița reacted, saying she will order to carry out inspections at all the silos in the country so as to avoid such incidents in the future. “Any violation in the building and utilization processes will be penalized in accordance with the law, while the consequences for the people in the area, who are affected, and for the environment should be alleviated,” stated the official.
