At the end of the term, the Parliament votes on a Declaration of Irreversibility of the European course

At the end of the legislative term, the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova reaffirms its strong commitment to the irreversible course of the country towards European integration and calls on all political forces, public institutions and civil society to remain united around this strategic objective, reports IPN.

A Declaration voted by the legislature, at the proposal of a group of deputies from the Action and Solidarity Party faction, underscores the progress made in recent years, including the achievement of candidate status in 2022, the opening of accession negotiations in 2024, and reaching a new level of bilateral relations, highlighted at the first Moldova-EU Summit, held in Chisinau in July 2025.

According to the parliamentarians, the partnership with the EU has brought real benefits for the citizens of the Republic of Moldova: more economic opportunities, support for communities, increased mobility, safety and social protection, against the backdrop of crises that have affected the entire region.

The elected representatives of the people express their hope that, by the end of 2025, the necessary conditions for the commencement of negotiations on groups of chapters will be fulfilled.

In the adopted declaration, the deputies appeal to the new legislature, which will be constituted after the elections on September 28, to maintain the European course of the Republic of Moldova and to ensure the continuity and acceleration of the accession process.

At the same time, the Government is requested to take all necessary measures to conduct a free, fair and transparent election, to prevent any external interference, and to firmly combat electoral corruption, thus ensuring the expression of the real will of the citizens.

“We conclude the XI legislature with the profound conviction that, by the end of this decade, through unity, determination, and perseverance, the Republic of Moldova will become a member state of the European Union – a free and dignified country, contributing to the peace, democracy, and security of the entire continent”, is stated in the Declaration on the Accession of the Republic of Moldova to the European Union.

The mandate of the current legislature expires on July 11. The parliamentary elections are scheduled for September 28, and the electoral campaign will officially begin 30 days before the polling date.
