The three employees of the Botanica Police Inspectorate, recently detained in a case of abuse of power, have been placed in preventive arrest for 30 days. According to law enforcement, they allegedly appropriated a portion of the money raised from a person in their custody, reports IPN.
The decision was pronounced by the Chisinau Court, Ciocana headquarters, which accepted the prosecutors’ approach. According to the National Anticorruption Center, the police officers would have appropriated some of the money, taking advantage of the vulnerable state of the person in their custody. At the same time, they violated the obligations related to the preservation and record of the goods seized in the exercise of their service duties.
The three were already under house arrest in another case. They are among the six employees of IP Botanica detained in April in a corruption case. According to the investigation, they allegedly demanded and systematically received amounts between 3 thousand and 10 thousand dollars from individuals involved in drug use and trafficking.
The criminal investigation continues in both cases to establish all circumstances and identify all involved individuals.
